Man Drowns After Boat Capsizes In Delta Near Woodward Island

SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY (CBS13) – The San Joaquin County Sheriff's office recovers a fisherman's body from the Delta on Wednesday morning.

A man and woman were trying to fish near Woodward Island when the boat capsized. The woman swam to shore, but her friend never surfaced.

A farm worker took her to the nearby ferry house to call for help.

"Soaking wet, head to toe. One of the farm workers brought her to me," said Deborah Reid, who helped the survivor. "I took her in the house and I gave her a change of clothes and called the sheriff's office."

Sheriff's deputies recovered the man's body around 8:30 a.m.

Through a translator, the woman said they were trying to start the motor when the boat flipped.
