New Three-Story Golf And Entertainment Center Getting Mixed Reviews From Neighbors

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - The company behind a massive new golf entertainment venue under construction in Roseville is looking to hire 500 people to fill their new positions.

And no better look at the change in a Roseville neighborhood than a suburban street transformed by Topgolf's five-story tall beams and nets.

"I actually don't love the view," said neighbor Stacci Filla.

Filla has figured out a way to accept the massive mesh net and beams now up at the end of her block.

"I am a boater so I actually think and I tell myself there's the marina over there with a bunch of sailboats...so you pretend it's something else," she said.

Instead of waterfront property, she'll be watering her front lawn next to a new massive golf/entertainment venue called Topgolf.

A promotional video from the company's Tampa Bay location features a multi-story driving range with nightlife including bars and restaurants.

The new Roseville site is under construction and hiring.

They held one of several interview events at the Maidu Community Center. Neighbor Dvora Ippolito is in favor of the neighborhoods new addition.

"I think if it stimulates the economy, and it gives us some jobs, I think it's a good thing," she said.

Vikki Thomasson and her 16-year-old daughter live next door to one of the new Topgolf driveways.

"I'm excited for it to open," Abbey Armenta.

This makes up just one of their mother-daughter debates.

No! No, no, no, the poles are not attractive," said Vikki Thomason, who lives near Topgolf.

It's a new place to practice your golf swing, but finding neighbors who like it is hit and miss.

The massive beams and nets are up now. The company is hiring hundreds of people, and the company is set to open the first week of September.

Topgolf's website lists more than 20 venues in the U.S. and U.K. It's got 10 more locations, including Roseville, coming soon.
