Woman Rescued From Stockton Slough Full Of Hyacinth

STOCKTON (CBS13) - Crews rescued a woman from a Stockton slough overflowing with hyacinth Wednesday morning.

The scene was near South Lincoln and Lafayette Streets.

Stockton Fire says their crews responded to the scene and found that a woman and gone into the water. The area was teeming with hyacinth and the woman refused to come out.

Firefighters first tried dropping a ladder into the slough, then they threw a rope at her. She could reach the rope, but firefighters say she continued to refuse to come to shore.

Eventually, a water rescue crew in full dive gear showed up at the scene and was able to get the woman back on land.

The woman has since been taken to the hospital. It is unclear why she went into the water in the first place.
