OROVILLE (CBS13) — A state parks law enforcement officer left the scene of a crash in a wild incident that was caught on video.

The California Highway Patrol says Daniel Kenney, 43, crashed into a parked vehicle and a power pole on Oro Dam Boulevard on Thursday afternoon just before 2 p.m.

Video from the scene shows a parks vehicle the CHP says was driven by Kenney leaving the scene with a large gash in the windshield. An Oroville Police vehicle followed the state parks vehicle and stopped Kenney.

He was placed in handcuffs and found not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. He was then released to state park supervisors and taken to a hospital for further evaluation.

Kenney has been placed on paid administrative leave.

The cause of the collision is unknown. The roads at the time of the collision were wet.
