SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Light showers hit Northern California on Thursday morning, but heavier rain is coming come nightfall and into the weekend.

Scattered light rain is expected across the valley throughout the day. Heavier rain will be coming by around 6 p.m.

Most of the precipitation is expected between 6 p.m. Thursday through 9 a.m. Friday.

Many valley locations could see rain totals topping 1 inch by Friday afternoon.

The Sierra could see between 2-4 inches of rain. Temperatures are expected to be too warm for snow at the pass level on Highway 50 and Interstate 80.

More wet weather will be coming on Saturday.
