Police: 12-Year-Old Cut Trying To Break Up Violent Family Dispute

VACAVILLE (CBS13) — Police say two people were stabbed at a residence during a family dispute in the 300 block of Mono Drive Friday evening.

Police said a 36-year-old male and his friend, 38-year-old Bernard Howard, were involved in a physical altercation with an older man in his 60s who also lives in the home.

The two younger men reportedly attacked the older man aggressively. The older man then reportedly defended himself with a knife.

Police say a 12-year-old boy in the house tried to stop the men from attacking the older man.

The 12-year-old was cut on his forearm. He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance and is in stable condition. The 36-year-old was cut on an extremity and was stabbed in his chest. He arrived at an area hospital and is getting treatment. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Howard was arrested for a violation of his parole and battery. Police said the investigation into the incident will be forwarded to the District Attorney for review, with the recommendation of battery charges against the 36-year-old as well.

All subjects involved in this incident have been located and questioned, and there is no outstanding threat to the community.
