VALLEJO (CBS SF) — Two women are dead and three other people – including a child – were wounded after gunmen disrupted a toddler’s birthday party on Vallejo’s Cynthia Avenue late Tuesday night, authorities said.

Vallejo police said officers responded to a report of a shooting at 9:49 p.m. in the normally quiet neighbor near Amelia Street and Cynthia Avenue in the north part of the city.

Upon arrival, officers discovered five gunshot wound victims — 4 adults and one child — ranging in age from 10 to 63 years old.

Remember massacre at el paso walmart? Two days after, on a hunch, I googled that walmart and prompted ‘guns.’ Guess what? Dozens and dozens of bb guns and pellet guns–mocked up to be replicas of some of the most deadly firearms there are. I found this to be contemptible. Even called 4 networks to point it out. None thought was newsworthy. Now I understand that our media is disgustingly fickle when it comes to public safety and the exploitation of children.

My point is that, if we are ever going to dig ourselves out of the gun culture quagmire, we need to stop this deliberate glorification of deadly weaponry ‘aimed’ at the youngest and most easily duped– our children!
