- Salvation Army Community Luncheon and “Spirit of Caring” award.With more than 750 people in attendance and $192,000 raised, the Salvation Army’s Annual Community Luncheon was a big success, on May 28th. This year, SMUD received the “Spirit of Caring” award at the McClellan Conference center for its commitment to improving the Sacramento area. The Salvation Army also put the spotlight on the Booker family, who’s overcome drug addiction and homelessness through Army programs. The nonprofit will soon be able to help even more people. Major Ivan Wild announced an expansion of Workforce Development Programs and an evolving partnership with the Sacramento Police Department.
