Sacramento’s best venue for Argentine tango, Tango by the River, is located in historic Old Sacramento. With 1,500 square feet of hardwood floors, expansive ceilings and windows, this place definitely has a great atmosphere. Just being here makes you want to dance. Tango’s user-friendly website “puts it all out there” so to speak. Everything you want to know about this hidden gem is available. Well organized and visually stimulating, this is a great example of what a good support team can accomplish. On the classes tab, you can even watch a video filmed during one of the lessons.

Club Tropicana is hands down “THE” Latin dance club in Sacramento. It will be difficult to find a club more suited for the task of scratching that itch for Latin music and dancing. On Friday and Saturday nights, this club electrifies the masses on not one but two dance floors. On select Friday and Saturday nights there is live music at the club and if you are familiar with the crowds that frequent Latin clubs, you know nothing gets them going like a live band. The club enforces a strict dress code so be sure to dress appropriately or you won’t get past the front door. Check the website for information on bands and how to get on the online guest list.

Mango’s Antro

Mango’s Antro is located inside of the popular Headhunter’s location. This venue offers an array of Latin themes. You can find live music several times per month which is constantly updated on the Facebook page. Most of the Facebook posts are in Spanish which adds to the club’s authenticity. Mango’s Antro offers five full bars, VIP service and three dance rooms for guests to get moving on. The club also offers an occasional 18-and-over night but you’ll want to check the calendar or call for information on when those nights will be popping up. Worth mentioning is if you arrive after 10:30 p.m., the cover charge is $15, so if you want to save a little cash, be sure to arrive before 10:30 p.m. when cover is only $5. Another great draw for the fans of Mango’s Antro is the fact it features some of the area’s most popular Latin DJs on a regular basis. Merengue, cumbia, salsa and bachata music are played all night long, making Mango’s Antro the place for just about any style of Latin music you desire. This is a perfect venue for those looking for a real party in the heart of the downtown Sacramento area.
