Arrest Made In Gruesome Mutilation Case

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) --  Sacramento Police have made an arrest in a gruesome murder that involved a man who was killed, dismembered and then set on fire.

The Sacramento Police Department has arrested Daniel Foalima, 21, for the murder of Arun Singh, 50.

Police say Singh's body was found a little before 3 a.m on a Saturday morning in August during a fire in an apartment.

Detectives and forensics experts combed areas around the apartment complex where Singh's body was found murdered.

Police say that the suspect was believed to have attempted to burn the apartment before fleeing, but the apartment's sprinkler system activated and prevented the flames from spreading.

Based on evidence obtained throughout the investigation, detectives believe that Foalima was attempting to rob Singh when he murdered him.  He then allegedly dismembered the body and attempted to burn the apartment in order to conceal the evidence.

Detectives were able to identify Foalima as a possible suspect through a Crime Alert tip.

Foalima was already in custody on a parole violation when he was arrested on the murder charge on Friday.
