SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – A controversial “crash tax” has gotten the green light in Sacramento.
The Sacramento City Council approved the tax in a 5 to 4 vote. The vote allows the city to charge non-residents when they’re in a crash in Sacramento that requires the fire department to respond.
The “crash tax” could range from $435 to more than $2,000 based on the severity of the accident.
The city council hopes to implement the fees by the end of February.

The fire Department is paid from local taxes. This is just another way of taxing while it is not called a tax. This will drive people out of the city so why spend money to rejuvinate the down town area and then pass a tax to drive them away. The four council members that voted against the tax needs to take action to recend it.
