Mr. Valentine Gets A Heart For Valentine's Day

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A man named Mr. Valentine got a new heart in time for Valentine's Day.

For the past 5 years, the heart of the hardworking horse trainer was failing.

Doctors attached a motor to Donald Valentine's heart to keep the blood pumping.

And just 3 weeks ago, Donald went through a painstakingly delicate nine hour heart transplant.

An organ donor gave Donald the gift of life.

"I wasn't giving up.  I've been a fighter.  All my life I had to fight for everything I got," said Valentine.

He has to take about 30 pills twice a day to keep his body from rejecting the new heart.
