Boy Hospitalized After Being Impaled On Fence

MODESTO (CBS13) -- An 11-year-old boy had to be cut out of a fence after impaling himself on the bars.

The victim was jumping a wrought-iron fence with a friend near a church on the 300 block of 6th Street when he slipped off the top. One of the tips of an iron bar impaled the boy's calf, suspending him in midair.

Bystanders heard the victim's screams and helped support his weight until authorities arrived.

Emergency crews had to remove the fence around his leg and transport him to Doctor's Hospital with the metal still embedded in his calf, according to the Modesto Fire Department.
