Police Hunt For Missing Nursing Student

HAYWARD (CBS) — Hayward police are asking for the public's help in finding a nursing student, who went missing from a hospital on Friday.

26-year-old Michelle Le was last seen on Friday night at Kaiser Hospital, where she was taking a class.

"At about 7 o'clock, the class took a break," said Hayward Police Lieutenant Roger Keener. "She grabbed her keys and her phone and explained that she was going to go out to her car and she never returned."

Keener said Le told many of her classmates that she was planning to drive to Reno after the class.

Investigators found her car parked a few blocks from the hospital and have not been able to contact her since.

"Our investigators have made several calls into her cell phone, which have all gone unanswered," said Keener. "What we don't know is if she currently has power to her phone or if the phone is turned off."

The case bears eerie similarities to the disappearance of missing nursing student Phuong Le, who went missing in Fairfield in April 2010 and was found dead in Napa County about two weeks later. The case is still unsolved, and while authorities are investigating the possibility the cases are connected, there is no evidence to suggest a link.

Le is described as 5 feet 6 inches tall with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Hayward police at (510) 293-7000.
