Toddler Injured In Fall From Bay Area Home

ANTIOCH, Calif. (AP) -- Authorities say a toddler was taken to the hospital with major head injuries after falling out of a second story window at a home in Antioch when the screen gave way.

   The 2-year-old boy was unconscious when authorities arrived on Wednesday afternoon. He was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Oakland.

   Fire officials say the boy, who was home with his three sisters, appears to have pushed against the screen before falling 15 feet to the driveway below. Contra Costa County Fire Capt. Ben Sanders tells KGO-TV the boy landed on his head.

   The television station reports that the top of a couch was visible below a window sill in the room where the boy fell.
