Three Shot In Rancho Cordova Shoot Out During Possible Home Invasion

RANCHO CORDOVA (CBS13) – Three people have been shot in a possible home invasion overnight in Rancho Cordova that also left a woman injured.

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies are trying to piece together what happened at a home on Palm Grove Avenue off Old Placerville Road just after 2:00 a.m.  It began when the homeowner called 911 saying he had been shot.

Deputies arrived to find the homeowner with a gunshot wound to his upper body.  They also found a man in the garage with a gunshot wound to the head.  Deputies do not know what led to the shooting or if the two men knew each other.  However, they are calling the man found in the garage a potential suspect.

Meanwhile, a woman arrived at a CVS Pharmacy down the street and called 911 saying she had been assaulted. Deputies believe she was at the home around the time of the shooting and fled leaving in such a hurry she backed through the garage door.

"We believe she's either involved with the residents, an acquaintance of the residents or she may in fact be a resident herself," said Sacramento Sheriff's Deputy Jason Ramos.

Neighbors tell CBS13 that people had just moved into the home where the shooting took place.

While detectives were starting to piece it all together, a fourth person, another potential suspect, arrived at Mercy San Juan Hospital with a gun shot wound to his leg.  Detectives are questioning the person who drove him to the hospital.

"Definitely a lot to sort out. Still a lot of unanswered questions at this point.  But we're working very diligently.  We've got a scene here to process as well as people who are being interviewed at a couple of different hospitals in the area," said Deputy Ramos.

The potential suspect who was found in the garage with a gunshot wound to the head is listed in very critical condition.  All the others are expected to survive their injuries.
