MODESTO, Calif. (CBS13) – Authorities are searching for the suspects in a drive-by shooting that left one man dead and two others injured.

The Modesto Police Department said the victims were apparently standing in the front yard of a resident on the 300 block of Vine Street when shots were fired from a dark 4-door vehicle at about 6:30 p.m.

One of the victims was rushed to the hospital, where he died from gunshot wounds. The other two victims suffered non-life threatening injuries, authorities said.

The suspects are described as three or four male adults. The vehicle, possibly a Honda, fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Detective Michael Hicks at (209) 342-6132 or Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636.

Sad that anyone got shot and killed. Modesto used to be so nice and yes peaceful. The neighborhoods were not so divided and everyone was just so much nicer. No one should be arguing here in the comments area…people who say moronic things are just looking for attention, the mean spirited comments come from those that are miserable in their own lives…someones life was taken and it is sad…the poor pregnant girl and her baby, sad…now this…it becomes clear to me why I moved and why I don’t like to even visit anymore…but I remember how it was, cruisin, hanging out on McHenry and everyone just got along…those were the days, now just a memory.

What is sad is the path these people take to end up this way. Clearly its not a racial issue that should be the topic here. White, black, brown, purple….all these people made the choice to be in that particular situation (minus the small children). Getting people to make better decisions in life and following through is what needs to be worked on…..along with respect for others and Modesto’s shrinking police force.
