Fight Breaks Out Following Blaze At A Sacramento Apartment

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (CBS13) – Firefighters not only had some trouble battling the flames at a Sacramento apartment complex Thursday morning, but also had to deal with a combative fire victim.

The fire broke out Thursday morning in the 1600 block of Bell Street just south of Arden Way.

Two units in the back of the complex burned and firefighters initially had some trouble getting water back to the area, but eventually got the fire under control.

While firefighters were mopping up and investigating, more trouble started. They say the upstairs resident began blaming the downstairs resident for starting the blaze. When a fire investigator attempted to stop the man from going back into his damaged apartment and possibly destroy evidence, the man began to physically resist.

The man, 22-year-old Darius Rudolf was arrested after a brief altercation with a fire investigator and fire fighters.  Rudolf was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.

No injuries from the fire or the fight have been reported.
