SACRAMENTO (CBS 13) – The Sacramento Police Department is alerting residents about an increase of street robberies that target people wearing gold chains.
Due to the extremely high value of gold, robbers and burglars are targeting homes, businesses and people wearing gold jewelry.
Some victims have had thieves snatch gold chains from their necks.
Police advise residents to be vigilant and to not become distracted by electronic devices, such as cellphones. Residents should also stay in well-lit and populated areas.

Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
