Natomas Toddler Found Lost In Street

NATOMAS (CBS13) -- A young boy calling out for his mommy was lost in the streets of south Natomas with no shoes on Thursday morning after his uncle fell asleep, but a passing motorist recognized the boy and he was reunited with his family.

After neighbors spotted the boy, either 2 or 3, in the middle of the street, a Sacramento police officer responded and walked with the boy door to door looking for his home for about a half hour, but they couldn't find it until the motorist came by and pointed them in the right direction.

The boy wandered off about 8:30 a.m., according to police, and was back home by 9:30. According to police, the boy's uncle fell asleep and the boy got out through an unlocked door. He wandered about a quarter-mile away from his home.

The boy's uncle declined to speak to CBS13's Nick Janes. Police told Janes the uncle was given a stern warning but won't face charges.
