Audio: The Carmichael Dave Show - October 10, 2011

There was a somber mood today on the Carmichael Dave show as we looked back and reflected upon the life and career of Raiders owner Al Davis.

All through out the show we played clips of Al talking about his beloved Raiders, Former players such as Howie Long and Marcus Allen discussed their feelings about the passing of Al, as well as former Raiders Coach Jon Gruden and current coach Hue Jackson

Sam Amick from SI.com came on to discuss the NBA labor talks and talk about the recent meetings between the players and the owners that took place over the weekend. He updated the listeners on both sides of the lockout, as well as shared his wisdom about the possibility of missing regular season games.

Marcos Breton from the Sacramento Bee joined Dave to discuss his recent article comparing the life and achievements of Al Davis to that of the also recently deceased Steve Jobs. They talked about the state of the Raiders following Al Davis's death, and what will be happening witht he organization next. Thry discussed the emotional win this weekend in Houston, as the Raiders defeated a Houston Texans team that was the favorite to win.

Sacramento Bee 49ers writer Matt Barrows came on and also touched on the death of Al Davis, and what he meant to the league, as well as what he has contributed over the years. They talked about the impressive showing the 49ers had in their game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, as well as the "progression" of Alex Smith. Matt talked about some key injuries suffered by the 49ers in that game on Sunday as well as the job being done by Coach Jim Harbaugh 5 weeks into the season.
