Audio: The Grant Napear Show - October 19, 2011

The Grant Napear show today carried momentum from last night show into today. With the Oakland Raiders trading for QB Carson Palmer yesterday, callers jumped into the show early continuing to dissect the trade by the Raiders. Along with the Palmer trade callers were weighing in on the latest with the NBA lockout. The NBA met yesterday for over 11 hours and continued the meeting today in efforts to reach an agreement.

Dennis Green, head coach for the Sacramento Mountain Lions joins the show to give his thoughts on his team. Coach Green looking to Saturday matchup vs. Las Vegas feels that his defense needs to be able to apply pressure on the offense of Las Vegas. Coach Green went on to share his thoughts on the Oakland move to acquire QB Carson Palmer saying, Palmer has a great understanding of the system. It was a very smart move by the Raiders; Palmer will work really well with the team.

Next on the show Charles Davis with the NFL Network jumps on to tell us what he thinks of the new QB for the Oakland Raiders. With Carson Palmer being named the started for Sunday's games vs. the Kansas City Chiefs there is somewhat of a question mark on why Oakland went to him so fast. When asked what Oakland can expect with Palmer, Davis said "There is no telling what you're going to get with Palmer on Sunday." Davis went on to say that it still remains to be seen if he has anything left in the tank. Switching gears and talking about the strong start by the 49'ers and their style of play; Davis said San Francisco's style of running the football and stopping the run is a style of play that if done right can help you win in the playoffs.

Joining the Palmer talk Mike Silver with Yahoo Sports gave his thoughts on the QB. When asked what the positives are with Palmer Silver said, Palmer will be good; he will be able to utilize the play action to his advantage. Also the young speedy receivers will give him a chance to be successful. With that being said, his elbow is questionable and the fact that he has been out of the game for so long could be a problem.

Grant Napear With Brian Schodorf

Changing pace, Brian Schodorf producer of the Wayman Tisdale Story joins the show to talk about his journey in making his full length documentary about late former Kings forward Wayman Tisdale. Schodorf said, it is hard to describe him and his caring nature. He went on to say that after 12 successful seasons in the NBA he started a new career, music. Music was Wayman's first love and his true passion. When asked about his film Schodorf said, it is a celebration of Wayman's life. It is a fun inspirational movie.

Closing out the show, Rich Gannon with CBS Sports comes on the show to give his thoughts on the Raiders and Carson Palmer. Gannon shared his thoughts on the late Al Davis saying he was very sad to hear the news. He is very grateful to get the opportunity to play for Al Davis, and there will never be another owner like him. When asked to gives his thoughts on Carson Palmer Gannon said "I would not expect a whole lot from Palmer." He went on to say, "You have to worry about his conditioning." Gannon expanded by saying, Palmer is 31 years old and he has plenty left in the tank it will however take some time to get used to the team.
