Police Searching For Witnesses To Fatal Hit And Run In Midtown Sacramento

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Sacramento Police are searching for a pick-up or SUV with front end damage that may be involved in a fatal hit and run accident that happened just after 9:30 in Midtown Sacramento Monday evening.

Officers say a passerby spotted a man lying in the road on 19th and S streets just before 10:00 Monday night and called 911.

Emergency crews arrived and found the victim, a 33-year-old man, with very serious injuries.  They determined he had been hit by a vehicle. 

He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died.  His name has not been released.

Police believe the vehicle involved may be a 1992-2002 Chevy or GMC full size pick-up or SUV with right side front end damage to the grill and reflector. Investigators also believe the vehicle involved was driving southbound on 19th Street at the time of the collision.

Enter SACTIP followed by the tip information.  Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
