UPDATE: Second Body Found In Debris Of Stockton Warehouse Fire

STOCKTON (CBS13) -- Investigators have now found two bodies in the rubble of a Stockton warehouse that caught fire on Monday night, according to the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Department.

The first body was found on Tuesday afternoon and the second on Wednesday morning. The first was a male; the gender of the second badly burned corpse hadn't been determined yet.

Deputies were called to the 1800 block of Marshall on Tuesday afternoon by firefighters who were probing the debris from the fire and found a body.

Detectives determined it was getting too dark and conditions were unsafe at the site to remove the body Tuesday night so they returned Wednesday to remove it. In the process of doing that, firefighters found a second body, CBS13's Andrea Menniti reported shorty before 11 a.m. The second body was removed from the scene by 3:30 p.m. but the search was then called off for the day because of the high winds.

Investigators want to bring in cadaver dogs back on Thursday to make sure there are no more bodies in the burned debris.

The fire broke out late Monday at the warehouse storing vinyl windows sometime before 9 p.m., sending flames and smoke high into the air.

"It was pretty chaotic that night so we're trying to piece the puzzle together," sheriff's Deputy Les Garcia said.

It took 28 firefighters several hours to douse the flames. The cause of the fire is being investigated, but arson hasn't been ruled out.

Adding to the confusion, a man took shelter in a fire truck after apparently being injured in a fight the night of the fire and had to be hospitalized.

Neighbors say homeless people took shelter in the warehouse and often used barbecue fires to keep warm.

"It's not surprising because of the people that go down there," one neighbor said.
