Prelim To Start In 'Double-Initial' Killings Case

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. (AP) — Prosecutors are scheduled to present their case against Joseph Naso, who is charged with killing four northern California women with matching initials.

The preliminary hearing against the 78-year-old Naso — who is representing himself in what could be a capital case — was scheduled for Tuesday in Marin County Superior Court. Naso has pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutors have so far been silent about the case, yet some details emerged after Naso's arrest in April following a routine search of his Reno, Nev., home after a parole violation.

Investigators found a list of 10 women including the four he is charged with killing, and said he kept news clippings of the slayings in a safety deposit box.

Naso is charged with killing Roxene Roggasch, Carmen Colon, Pamela Parsons and Tracy Tafoya between 1977 and 1994.
