TRUCKEE (CBS13) – Are you coffee lover who loves to ski? How about doing both at the same time!
You can now get your latte at Squaw Valley without ever having to take off your skis.
The world’s first ski-through Starbucks has just opened on the slopes bringing a whole new meaning to iced coffee.
“You can get your caffeine fix without taking off your ski gear,” said Amelia Richmond, Squaw Valley spokesperson. “We went to Starbucks and said ‘We’d really like to make this happen’ and they bought into the idea.”
The ski-thru window was inspired by BASE jumper JT Holmes who was skiing at Squaw Valley with a coffee in hand.
So how long before someone spills their coffee on themselves and sues?
This is not the World’s first ski-thru. I’ve been thru several ski-thrus here on the east coast.
Another indulgence for the entitled members of society.
Our concern is the amount of coffee cups thrown will trash the woods. Their name or skier ID # should be put on the cup followed by a fine that needs to be enforced.
“Another indulgence for the entitled members of society.” Carolyn, People from all walks of life ski and snowboard….You kind of lost me with your comment.
Nothingchanges you lost me at all walks of life ski. Many children in Sacramento have never seen snow. This is not from a lack of desire. I wasn’t bashing the ski industry.
Sit in a fast food place or a Starbucks and watch how some of the customers behave towards the employees and other customer. I only imagine the consideration shown to others while skiing off with a hot beverage. Also the trash left behind at ski areas is disturbing.
ALL RIGHT! I wish they had come up with that idea years ago also I would have to see any one skiing down the mountain while drinking coffee LOL, that is IMPOSSIBLE LOL. Ya just get a cup and drink it, throw the cup in a waste container and then sky down the slope LOL
I’ll betcha people who do not ski will ride the lift up to the Starbucks on the mountain top, what a thrill, no snow to ski but Starbucks will save the day, what aview while drinking your coffee. How exciting getting up there and down again. Way to go Starbucks!
