The Don Geronimo Show - March 2, 2012

Today, our good buddy, the great Frank Caliendo joins us in the studio, and is with us all morning!! Don begins by asking Frank, who makes a lot of appearances with radio stations, what he thinks of the current state of radio, and how it has changed over the years. He also tells us how losing weight has helped with his impersonations, as well as playing characters. After Frank tells us about the Happy Meal debacle he experienced at McDonalds, we find out that Dave's microphone has crapped out on him, so Don gives Dave the megaphone to talk through, until we can get the mic fixed.

Throughout the show, Frank does his hilarious impersonations, including that of John Madden, Charles Barkley, Regis Philbon, and Jim Rome. He also tells us why his deal for a show in Vegas fell through, and that Dave is in his "Top 5 Ugliest People" list. Don then pulls out this week's Sacramento News & Review, and has Frank read the story about us and our feud with Tom Couzens- in his Morgan Freeman voice.

After Don talks about his idea for a "Tent City" show, Frank discusses what it's like doing his Charles Barkley impression, and how it's received by the African American audience.

Frank also tells us about the time he got kicked out of the Super Bowl, and had to sneak back in, and how he's a much quieter person in real life. We then get a phone visit from Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme, from the comedy group Broken Lizard. Kevin and Steve, who will be performing at the Punchline in Sacramento, talk with the guys about how they got started, the making of some of their best movies, like Super Troopers and Beerfest, and a possible Super Troopers sequel in the works!

After Don tells Frank his John Madden "Give Up Clothes" story, and we hear clips of a drunk driver on the Philadelphia Airport runway, Kirstie Alley saying she wants an "ugly, funny man," and a 700 lb man who says he can't lose weight, it's time for the "Phantom News Hour."

Today, among the stories: Sammy Davis Jr.'s daughter says her dad would have liked Bill Crystal's impersonation of him at the Oscars, Eddie Murphy saying he liked Crystal's performance, and movies come out this weekend. And of course, Don wraps everything up with a caller 100!
