UPDATE: Autopsy Reveals Little On Remains Found Near Roseville Golf Course

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) – An autopsy Friday on human skeletal remains found Thursday evening in a creek near a Roseville golf course has not helped answer many questions.

The body was found inside the guarded, gated west Roseville community around Morgan Creek Golf Club, beyond the first tee and under a bridge.

"it's real pretty down here," hiker Maureen Dwinell said Friday.

But Thursday night the quiet area was interrupted by investigators combing the wooded area and creek after a passerby stumbled on human remains.

"So when I heard the news last nigh, it was kind of a shock," golfer Terry Kirstein said. "It was like wow, in a nice area like this next to a golf course."

The autopsy revealed it's likely a man. But because the body was underwater for so long, DNA testing must be done to confirm the gender and, most importantly, the person's identity.

Those from this area first wondered if it could be Christie Wilson, whose body was never found after she went missing in 2005. She was last seen alive leaving nearby Thunder Valley Casino with Mario Garcia, who was later convicted of her murder.

Investigators say they've got "pretty good leads" and they've looked through local missing persons cases.

While the autopsy showed no obvious signs of foul play, like a gunshot wound or head trauma, many still want to know how this person came to die here in such an otherwise peaceful setting.
"This is a beautiful area and it's a country club and you just don't get a … you know, anything like that happening right here," Kirstein said.
