Toddler Found Wandering Streets Alone

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - A four-year-old boy was found alone on a Del Paso Heights street with no shirt or shoes and no sign of his family.

"I know a 4-year-old. I can't even imagine what's going through his mind," said Dorothy Granderson, whose grandchildren are three and five.

The boy and his mother lived in one of the units, and the neighbors say they moved in about a week ago. But Thursday morning, mom went missing. Someone spotted the 4-year-old alone outside and called police.

"The call came out, that a child was crying, and was naked in that area. When officers arrived on scene, they still found a young girl, 4-years-old, crying and sitting on the curb with no parents around," said Officer Michelle Gigante, Sacramento Police Department.

Officers found no one inside the home and no sign of mom after searching the neighborhood.

Parents who live in the neighborhood are stunned.

"You can see I've got mine right here. This is where you're supposed to keep your babies at. Close to your heart," said Jerry Chappell, father of a 2-year-old.

Officers have put the boy in child protective services.

"At least he's gonna be well taken care of. That's the main thing," said Granderson.

A little 4-year-old boy, found alone, crying on a curb, helpless and heartbreaking.

Where mom is, remains a mystery.
