Another Search Planned For Missing Bay Area Teen

MORGAN HILL (AP) — Authorities are gearing up for another daylong search for missing 15-year-old Sierra LaMar this weekend.

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office plan to lead a "refined" search of areas in Morgan Hill, San Martin and Gilroy on Saturday. About 90 law enforcement officers from agencies around the Bay Area will be brought in.

Sheriff's Sgt. Jose Cardoza told the San Jose Mercury News that searchers previously combed the same area on dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles. But on Saturday, they'll be going through the rough terrain on foot.

Sierra was last seen March 16 as she was getting ready for school at her Morgan Hill home. Investigators believe she was kidnapped on her way to catch the bus.

Sierra's cellphone and bag were later found off the road.
