Suspects Caught On Surveillance Cameras Attempting To Steal Cameras

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Two suspects are in custody after getting caught on-camera attempting to steal the camera itself at a North Highlands business early Tuesday morning, according to deputies.

Deputies arrested the alleged thieves at Anthony's Stereo on Watt Avenue in North Highlands after getting a call from the owner.

He gets an email alert whenever the motion detector at the business is set off and was watching the suspects on a surveillance system as they scaled a wall to get on the roof.

"It's possibly the second or third time we've had this issue with this business. We were able to set up a quick perimeter and take into custody two subjects," said an officer on the scene.

The owner believes one of the suspects taken into custody Tuesday was the same one caught on camera Sunday night hopping over the fence and looking around appearing to case the place. The owner thinks this guy came back overnight with a friend.

Deputies believe the men were actually trying to steal the cameras and not just disable the system.
