Folsom Home Badly Damaged In Morning Fire

FOLSOM (CBS13) - A Folsom home sustained heavy damage after it caught fire on Wednesday morning just after the homeowner left for a few minutes.

The resident left to talk to a neighbor briefly and returned to find the house in the 1700 block of Dornie Circle on fire.

Folsom, El Dorado Hills and Sacramento Metro firefighters responded to the two-alarm blaze, which caused an estimated $385,000 in damages to the two-story home. The cause is under investigation.

A next-door neighbor said she was just getting out of the shower when the homeowner pounded on her door in a panic.

"There were flames coming out the side and glass was breaking," she said.

The man was able to get his car and some other items out of the garage before flames got to them.

Folsom Fire said it responded about 7 minutes, 35 seconds after receiving the 911 call shortly after 9 a.m. and "encountered a working fire on both levels of the home" and also into the attic.

Firefighters had the blaze fully contained in about an hour. No one was injured.
