Roseville Solar Company Expanding With 60 New Positions

ROSEVILLE (CBS13) - While some businesses are struggling, one business is booming and creating jobs for the Sacramento area.

Paramount Solar in Roseville has 60 positions available and they had hundreds applying, forcing them to shut down their website before the job fair even started.

It began as three guys with an idea.

"Started the company with my two best friends," said CEO Hayes Barnard.

Now eight years later, Paramount Solar has 400 employees and is growing.

The Roseville based company is hiring 60 people in 60 days and Brad Mott hopes he's one of them.

"I need solid employment. I would like to get out of the temporary employment situation I'm in," said Mott.

The reason for the business boom, the economy's rebounding and Barnard says it's time to jump into action.

"Entrepreneurs are at a point where they've ridden out the recession and now at a point where we want significant investment on business," said Barnard.

In the last year, Barnard says the demand for solar shot up 400 percent.

"Residential homeowners have really gotten it," said Barnard.

Gotten that if they go green they can save a lot of green.

"An average of about $150 a month, but in many cases it's much more," said Barnard.

So that's why he says hundreds are applying for the few dozen jobs up for grabs.

"I was totally surprised. I couldn't believe so many people are interested in what we're doing," said Barnard.

The company hopes to have another job fair in the coming fall.
