Fair Oaks Neighbors Say They're Fearful Of Murder Suspect's Mother

FAIR OAKS (CBS13) - A woman appeared at court to support her son, an accused killer, on Tuesday and she was arrested.

Naquita Trotter is behind bars for elder abuse and other related charges. When CBS13 showed up at her Fair Oaks home Tuesday, neighbors say they're glad she's locked up.

Trotter worked as a live-in nurse near the Fair Oaks street where Sunday's murder of Carole Sturgis happened. Her son, Moses Trotter, is accused of taking Sturgis' life.

There is no love lost from neighbors in Fair Oaks as they described Naquita Trotter, 52.

"Something about her always made me scared of her and I told myself 'I'm not going to look at her,'" one told CBS13 on Tuesday.

Despite being a wanted woman, neighbors say Trotter has been living with an elderly woman with dementia on Apple Valley Court.

"She's been here a long, long time," one neighbor said.

Sources tell CBS13 Trotter's mom is very involved in the lives of older women, befriending and attending church with them. But people here say she wasn't very neighborly at all.

After her arrest, neighbors called 911 to request that deputies check the well being of the woman she cares for.

"There's nothing I can tell you about the investigation. The elderly lady that lives her is fine," a deputy said Tuesday after visiting the home.

Even though her son may be going away, many in the neighborhood are afraid his mom will soon return.
"I'm scared of her," one said.

At this point both mother and son are being held at the Sacramento County Jail, the son for murder and mother on the warrant. Both are being held without bail. Both are scheduled to make court appearances on Thursday.
