STOCKTON (CBS13) – Stockton police are investigating the city’s record 63rd murder of year after a motel employee found two people dead inside a vehicle in the motel parking lot Tuesday afternoon.
The deaths are being investigated as a murder-suicide after two bodies were found inside a vehicle parked at the Red Roof Inn off of Fremont Street.
Evidence inside the vehile leads police to believe a man shot the female victim then sometime after that shot himself, police said.
The SUV was parked next to a dumpster and police said a maintenance worker at the motel found the bodies at around 12:30. p.m.
Police arrived on scene and also found a gun inside the vehicle with the bodies.
As of 5 p.m., the coroner hadn’t arrived to remove the bodies as the investigation continued. The vehicle was still in the parking lot covered with a blue tarp.
