SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – The patio of a Sacramento home was heavily damaged on Thursday after a fire broke out.

At around 6:30 a.m., a passerby noticed smoke coming from behind a duplex on 3151 Edison Avenue. He banged on the door of the home but no one came to the door. Firefighters broke a window and woke up the female resident who was able to get out safely.

Firefighters put the fire out, but not before the patio and nearby fence suffered heavy damage.

A barbecue is in the backyard, but is not being considered the cause of the fire. Arson investigators are working to determine the exact cause of the blaze.
