TRACY (CBS13) – A bizarre accident killed a Southern California man in Tracy on Tuesday afternoon.
A contractor was cleaning the mixer drum of a cement truck at A&A Concrete Supply, 10250 W. Linne Road, when a 1,800-pound piece of concrete fell on him and killed him, according to Tracy Fire Division Chief David Bramell.
The fire department was called out to remove the 47-year-old man’s body, but the confined space provided to be challenging. It took about two hours to recover the body.
The worker was chipping away at pieces of hardened concrete inside the drum when an 1,800-pound piece fatally struck him. He worked for Express Chipping, based in the Los Angeles area.
The man’s name has not been released.
