Stockton Police To Participate In Worldwide Law Enforcement Tweet-A-Thon

STOCKTON (CBS13) - The Stockton Police Department is participating in a worldwide law enforcement tweet-a-thon to draw attention to social media as a tool for law enforcement.

Starting at 8 a.m. on March 22, agencies from around the world will begin using the hashtag #poltwt to create awareness about police work and encourage the use of social media in policing, according to a press release by the Stockton Police Department.

The department says it hopes their participation in the Global Police Tweet-a-thon will "continue to positively influence the rapidly growing communication link between the police department and our citizens through the use of social media."

So far, law enforcement agencies from Canada, Sweden, Britain, Iceland and Australia have signed up.
