Large Tree Knocked Down Across Road In Woodland

WOODLAND (CBS13) - Hours after it fell during the storm, a tree is still blocking County Road 97 in Woodland.

Lightning lit up a dark sky on Sunday as thunder roared and rumbled during an afternoon storm in Woodland.

"It got really windy. It was just like a big noise and then sparks from the wires," said resident Aberto Duran.

Duran was on the front porch with his family celebrating Easter when strong winds knocked down the huge tree. He watched as it toppled onto power lines and fell across the roadway.

"My truck and my friend's truck were right there, so it missed the truck," said Duran.

That fallen tree cut power to several nearby homes and businesses. The owner of the Willow Oak Grocery Store had to use a flashlight to get around his store, which was left in the dark.

And customers could only pay in cash. The owner was forced to close his store early, hoping the power comes back before the food spoils.

The storm moved quickly through the area, but left behind a lasting impression.

"It was scary," said Duran.

While some may be left cleaning up a mess, many say the rain is always pays off.

PG&E crews say have already restored power.
