El Dorado County Supervisor Nutting Makes Court Appearance

EL DORADO COUNTY (CBS13) — The judge overseeing the case against an El Dorado County supervisor had to be reassigned on Monday due to a conflict.

Ray Nutting made his first court appearance facing perjury and conflict of interest charges on Monday. He also faces charges related to collecting loans from county employees to cover his bail.

The reassignment was made because Nutting coached the judge's son in wrestling.

The original charges of perjury and conflict of interest come from taxpayer dollars Nutting received for work he's done clearing brush and trimming trees on his own land, as well as other income he didn't report on his state financial disclosure forms. That money adds up to more than $120,000.

Prosecutors say on the day of his arrest, Nutting received thousands in loans from a county contracts and two county employees.

He'll be back in court on Thursday.
