Investigators: Roseville Fire That Burned Homes Was Arson
ROSEVILLE (CBS13) — Investigators are calling the fire that burned more than 30 acres in Maidu Park on Friday arson.
The fire started before 2:30 p.m. on Friday and burned through Maidu Park and damaged four homes and a gazebo.
Firefighters say the winds and heavy, dry brush helped the fire grow quickly. More than 180 firefighters arrived at the fire and 256 homeowners were told to either shelter in place or evacuate their homes.
Damage from the fire is estimated to be more than $1 million. The homes damaged all had wood-shake roofing, which stray embers can ignite.
