Antioch Baby Allegedly Abducted By Father Found Safe; Amber Alert Canceled

Justice Alasheia Benton, an 11-month-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped by her father in Antioch, has been found safe, the CHP reports. But the girl's father is still at large.

At 10:19 a.m Monday, Antioch police received a call of shots fired in the area of Rainier and Sunset Lanes. When they arrived, police learned the girl's 23-year-old father, Joshua Elijah Benton, had allegedly taken Justice during a domestic dispute.

As Joshua was leaving, he reportedly fired his handgun into the air, got into the passenger side of a waiting van and left.

Joshua is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, 144 pounds, black, with "twisty"-style hair. He was last seen wearing white shorts, a blue t-shirt, flip-flops and a brown hat. He is possibly armed and dangerous, and could behave violently, say authorities.

The van is described as a dark-green Dodge Caravan with tinted back windows. The license plate of the vehicle remains unknown.

A second unknown suspect was driving the van.

Police urge anyone with information about the whereabouts of the suspects or the vehicle to Antioch police at (925) 778-2441.
