Muscular Dystrophy Not Stopping Sacramento Boy From Playing Soccer

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - It's a sport you may have never heard of, but one Sacramento boy is taking on the world of "Power Soccer."

At 13 year old, Jake Bath is living with muscular dystrophy. It prevents him from participating from many things most 13-year-old boys do -- except for one.

He and his teammates use modified power wheelchairs to play power soccer on a regulation basketball court. Bath says the sport has made him more confident, even if he can't do everything other kids can do.

"They went on water slides and I can't really do that, but then I thought I had power soccer and they don't -- so pretty even," said Bath.

In October, he will travel to Paris as a member of the under-18 power soccer team.

Bath's hoping to get a new wheelchair designed specifically for power soccer.
