Colusa County Woman Says Man Followed Her 30 Miles Before Raping Her

COLUSA (CBS13) — A woman says she couldn't outrun a stranger determined to attack her—following her 30 miles from Colusa to Bayliss and allegedly raping her.

Investigators say they only have a sketch of the determined predator's face to go on from the July attack.

"We are a small community, and things like that don't happen here."

Sheriff's deputies say it started at the Rite-Aid parking lot on Bridge Street in Colusa. They say the victim, a woman, would pull out and eventually realized a truck that had also been in the lot was following her.

Deputies say she would drive nearly 30 miles near the area of Bayliss in remote Glenn County trying to lose the suspect.

But when she says she turned down a rural dead end, she jumped out of a truck. That's when deputies say he beat the woman, and sexually assaulted her.

Deputies say the suspect, described as a man in his 30s and hispanic or Portuguese, would get away in a 1990s Chevy S10 pickup.

Women we spoke to say it is a reminder to remain aware of your surroundings. If you're being followed, pull over only in very busy areas.
