PLACER COUNTY (CBS13) – The American Fire burning in Placer County continues to grow.
So far, it’s charred 7,367 acres in the Deadwood Ridge area, and is about 10 miles northeast of Foresthill.
Firefighters say this blaze is difficult to battle because it’s burning in deep forested terrain.
The fire is also putting up a lot of smoke in the Sierra Foothills and Sacramento Valley.
More than 1,200 firefighters are on the front lines, and have contained 31 percent of the fire.
