Police Investigate Smash-And-Grab Burglary At Natomas Smoke Shop

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) - Police are investigating a smash-and-grab burglary that happened at a smoke shop in Natomas early Tuesday morning.

These types of crimes usually last only a matter of minutes, say police, but it took the burglar at Smoke 4 Less took more than 10 minutes to just cut through the metal gate.

The incident happened at 3:45 a.m. Surveillance video captured the burglar wearing a hood, gloves and carrying a bag. He first took out a manhole cover and smashed the glass of the front door, then cut out the bars.

The burglar walked into the store and took cash, cigarettes and an energy drink before he left.

Store owners tell CBS13 the security alarm didn't go off. They think this burglar is the same one who did the same thing three months ago. At that time, owners though adding the metal grate would keep out would-be burglars.

Despite their frustrating morning, store owners say they are still open for business.
