SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Supporting the Sacramento Kings in style just got easier. Fans no longer have to go to a game to buy official team merchandise.
“Forever Purple,” it’s what Kings fans everywhere are proud of.
“Everyone’s really excited that we kept the Kings in Sacramento,” Kings fan Larissa Levins said.
The “Here We Stay” campaign has triggered a special connection between the city of Sacramento and the NBA team.
“Sometimes it’s probably hard to get to the arena, to get to the team store there. So now we’re in the neighborhoods where our season ticket holders and fans are,” said Director of Merchandise, Christina Benson.
A new Kings store opened Friday at The Fountains in Roseville — across from the Galleria — and has everything you need to be a team player.
“It’s a place where you can get all the product you love and want to wear to the games,” said Benson.
It’s drawing in new and old fans, but will all this excitement be enough to keep it open?
“I think there is room for it. I sure think it’s going to be successful,” said one fan.
So, whether it’s shirts, hats, or jerseys, the new stores are the place to go. And, it looks like people want to be a part of it.
“I think it’s a great idea, and I’ll probably buy some gear,” Kings fan Brandon Petty said.
“We’re already seeing a lot of traffic, especially on game days,” said Benson.
This is just the beginning. With new owners, a new arena and new hope, this store has everything a Kings fan needs — from 1985 to forever.
“I think the excitement will continue and the hard work will continue. I think it’s great,” said Benson.
In addition to Roseville, there are stores also open in Folsom, El Dorado Hills and downtown Sacramento.
