Rio Linda Home's Roof Collapses Following Early Christmas Morning Fire

RIO LINDA (CBS13) - A Rio Linda home's roof collapsed in the early hours of Christmas morning after the home was engulfed in flames.

Just before 1 a.m., Sacramento Metro Fire responded to the 6800 block of 22nd Street, where the second floor of a two-story house was burning. Firefighters quickly began battling the blaze from the second floor and roof.

However, the heavy fire caused the roof to collapse. Fortunately, firefighters were aware of the structure's instability and were able to escape uninjured.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and were able to contain it to the second floor.

The home was unoccupied because it was being remodeled.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
