Vacaville Pastor Accused Of Planning Firebombing Granted Bond

VACAVILLE (CBS13) — A Vacaville pastor accused of having his ex-girlfriend's home firebombed faced a judge with support from devoted parishioners in the courtroom.

Pastor Mark Lewis will be granted bond, despite objections from the District Attorney's office.

Lewis stayed quiet in his appearance before a judge on Tuesday, only occasionally turning back to see some of his devoted parishioners, like Neomah Bell.

"It breaks my heart. He's like one of my own children," Bell said. "And he has helped me, and I've seen him help so many people."

Bell, like others, continues to insist that allegations the baptist pastor put three people up to firebombing his ex-girlfriend's house are untrue.

Lewis was back in custody after being re-arrested and accused of fraud after the DA's office says the church he put up for bail collateral was not properly registered.

"I'm concerned about his story, and I'm concerned about how the district attorney's office is behaving, and how they are using their power to imprison him when he is presumed to be innocent," Lewis' attorney Denis Honeychurch said.

Lewis was granted bail of more than $500,000 on Tuesday. No further charges were announced, despite a search warrant of the church campus from earlier this month that paperwork CBS13 obtained shows police found a handgun and meth.
