Nintendo is bringing games from its DS handheld system to its Wii U console system, the company announced Thursday.
The company announced in a briefing that it had overcome technical hurdles to make the games available through its Virtual Console service.
The Nintendo DS is the predecessor of the company’s current handheld, the 3DS.
No pricing or timeline for availability of the titles
The Wii U has encountered disappointing sales in just over a year on the market. So far, a price cut hasn’t attracted customers to the system at the same volume as the Wii did in 2006, but Nintendo is banking on a lineup of games coming out in 2014.
One of those games, Mario Kart 8, was announced to come out in the spring, but Nintendo clarified it will release in May.
